The COLLEGIATE CONVERTIBLE saddles are an outstanding value for both horse and rider. Most BATES saddles are in stock, however, we can get any BATES saddle in about 4 days. Special colours(black) or flat seat close contact are about three months delivery.
MOST OTHER MODELS by CROSBY in close contact design are available from 1 week to about 5 weeks, except special orders which are 2 to 3 months.

Saddles built for horse and rider. These saddles are comfortable to sit in and have a narrow twist that allows excellent function for the rider. The BATES saddles are made using the finest aniline, drum dyed Austrian, Swiss or German leathers.( This process puts the dye into the leather rather than just on the surface.) The trees flex, diagonally, to the movement of the horse allowing great freedom of the horse's back. The panels are either a wool/synthetic traditional flocking(WINTEC or COLLEGIATE CONVERTIBLE) or the revolutionary new CAIR system(BATES or WINTEC) . This system uses 4 permanent air bladder panels (2 on each side) to cushion the horse's back, virtually eliminating pressure points and discomfort. Along with the air panels this system allows the head of the tree (the gullet) to be easily changed by the rider or groom in just a few minutes. There are 6 different widths of gullet that can be used in each saddle, from narrow to extra wide. This allows the saddle to be adjusted to sit level on the horse and fit the shape of the horse's back. These saddles may be ridden with the thinnest of pads or no pads at all. The comfort afforded the horse with the use of these saddles, in most cases that we have seen, has the horse canter more relaxed and more slowly. Most horses jump rounder and more relaxed and land slower than with other saddles. We have also found that most horses using these saddles relax their backs and have lighter downward transitions. The knee blocks on all WINTEC and BATES saddles are all easily moved and exchanged to suit the individual rider's knee and thigh placement and comfort.
All BATES and WINTEC saddles now have a lacing system built into the saddles by BATES. This allows Certified CAIR Specialist Saddlers to take the whole saddle apart and with special tools made by BATES, adjust the arc(rocker) of the bottom of the panels(from front to back), or to raise the front of the saddle(pommel) or the back of the saddle(cantle) and then put the saddle back together using the special tools with more precision, using the BATES shims than in conventional flocked or foam saddles.

The trees in all WINTEC English, COLLEGIATE CONVERTIBLE and BATES saddles are guaranteed for the lifetime of the saddle. The air panels are guaranteed for 5 years. The rest of the saddle is guaranteed for one year.
